Glatt Powder Synthesis - Key of a new generation of powder materials
The Glatt powder synthesis is a continuous, unique thermal process for the production of powders. The heart of the ProAPP®
is the specially designed combustion chamber. In the combustion chamber a pulsating stream of hot gas is generated, in which the particles are formed and treated.The special thermodynamic conditions which lead to unusual qualities of the generated powders arise from the pulsating gas current.
The unusual thermodynamic conditions lead to particular properties and allow the exact configuration of the particles with combinations of properties that did not exist previously. For the
setting of the material qualities the hot gas stream is exactly adjustable in the frequency, amplitude, process temperature and flow velocity.
Due to the high turbulence intensity, pulsating gas flows do not have a temperature- and speedgradient, as it is typical for a continuous gas flows. Thereby all particles experience the identical temperature-residence- treatment as the basis for homogeneous powder materials.
For particle production, a flow of fine droplets of a raw material solution is sprayed into the pulsating gas. These drops form the essential particles. The particles are heated to trigger chemical and mineralogical reactions. Afterwards the particles are cooled.
The usage of the Glatt powder synthesis is particularly efficient because different process steps can be combined into one step, e.g. drying and calcination or particle formation and coating. Convince yourself!

Glatt masters a uniquely broad portfolio of different system concepts for the implementation of product ideas with very different requirements. Batch or account company, single-step or multistage process arrangements, vertical or horizontal material flow – these options allow a result-oriented discussion concerning process development and plant engineering. A fluidized bed is formed when upwards flowing process air raises a layer of solid particles – it fluidizes. The process air serves to generate the fluidized state. At the same time it supplies the
required thermal energy for the particle-technical processes.
The spouted bed technology is based on the basic principle of fluidization of particles by upstream process air flowing. The main difference is the patented design of the process air inlet, stomata in conjunction with special airfoils, and a rapidly expanding process space. The results are significantly higher warmth- and material-transference- rates for the processing of sensitive products with short residence-times.
